Partners’ Institute for Change develops innovative programs with its health care partners and funders in geriatrics, end-of-life care, and other health care areas of interest. The Institute for Change/Research Center conducts research projects to change the way the health system delivers care that better meets the needs of patients, especially the elderly and other vulnerable populations.

With her depth and breadth of research experience leading the quality of the Institute’s project design and outcomes, Dr. Susan Enguidanos directs the Research Center team in the initiation and development of grant and study design, data collection, outcomes measurement, and dissemination of findings as well as project administration.

Among the Research Center’s projects, Dr. Enguidanos is Co-Principal Investigator of the study of "Geriatric Care Management Depression" recently funded by the Kaiser Permanente Depression Initiative. She also plays a key role in the Institute’s Palliative Care Multi-site Project testing a new model of end-of-life care for chronically and terminally ill patients. For the Institute’s work with Kaiser Permanente for their Palliative Care Study, the program received the Kaiser Permanente James A. Vohs Award in 2002, their leading national quality improvement award.

Dr. Enguidanos also serves as a lecturer in graduate level research methods and policy at the U.S.C. School of Social Work. She has more than 10 years experience in research, ranging from HIV/AIDS studies to research in the efficacy of Acupuncture treatment.

Author and co-author of numerous articles in leading medical and social work journals and publications, Dr. Enguidanos frequently presents papers at national conferences and professional meetings. She serves the Associate Editor of the Home Health Care Services Quarterly and is a member of the Institutional Review Board of Partners in Care Foundation. Her professional memberships include: the Society for Social Work and Research, the American Public Health Association, the American Society of Aging, and the Gerontological Society of America.

Prior to receiving her Doctorate in Social Work from University of Southern California, Dr. Enguidanos earned her Masters in Public Health at California State University, Long Beach, and her Bachelor of Arts and Psychology from U.C.L.A.
