Robert, 48 years old and diagnosed with cancer

Robert, 48, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Mantle Cell Lymphoma. His case manager contacted Partners in Care Foundation’s Family Care Network program in hope of resources for Robert.

Program staff understood Robert’s desperate need for financial assistance and immediately worked with Robert's case manager to apply to the program’s primary donor, Change a Life Foundation. After applying to the Foundation by way of Family Care Network, Robert received funding for his critical operation. At the time, Robert was in dire need of a bone marrow transplant. According to his physician and medical social worker, this bone marrow transplant was the only curative treatment that could save Robert’s life. A successful transplant would increase his life expectancy and allow him to lead a more productive and fulfilling life. If he did not receive this critical transplant, Robert would die from his cancer condition within a few months. Robert’s medical insurance denied his request for financial assistance twice to cover the cost of his rehabilitation and authorized coverage for the medical procedure only. As a result, he desperately needed financial assistance to cover the cost of his rehabilitation.

Change a Life Foundation stepped in when there were no other resources for Robert. Robert was hospitalized immediately after receiving the grant for his rehabilitation. Grant funding enabled Robert’s quality of life to dramatically improve. He now looks forward to each day without fear and anxiety over his once debilitating condition.
