United Way Award to Partners in Care Foundation Provides Continued Assistance to Uninsured and Underinsured in Los Angeles County Communities for 2007-2008 Project Year

LOS ANGELES, April 7, 2008— In its 10th year of service to the Greater Los Angeles area, Southern California and beyond, Partners in Care Foundation is nearing completion of its 2007-2008 United Way project year award which fortified ongoing efforts to provide greater access to care for the uninsured and underinsured in Los Angeles County, announced June Simmons, President and CEO for Partners in Care Foundation.

“The generous and continued support from the United Way this year has once again strengthened and expanded Partners in Care programs for those most in need in Los Angeles County, “ noted Ms. Simmons. “The funding has enabled Partners to reach a larger population of diverse families and children and to provide the critically necessary self-care management, prevention, early intervention information and care that is critical to helping people stay well or to restore their health. These efforts are fundamental to achieving quality of life as well as providing a strong platform for healthcare reform.”

Support for Partners in Care was one of many grants awarded under the United Way’s “Creating Pathways Out of Poverty” campaign. The efforts were targeted to improve the lives of those in need with a 10-year action plan aimed at three main goals: meeting basic needs such as food, health care and shelter; improving young people’s education; and teaching adults the skills they need to become financially stable.
