Family Preservation Data Archives

A Partners in Care,

Institute for Change/Research Center Consultation

Community-based agencies throughout Los Angeles County partnered with Partners in Care Foundation and the University of Southern California to systematically collect uniform data on their service population. Family Preservation agencies provide supportive, intensive, family counseling services to families at risk of having their children placed outside of the home. Partners, USC and all the agencies developed a committee in order to devise the best method to collect data and measure the success of the families they serve. A web-based system data collection was developed.

The Family Preservation Program has more than 40 sites to collect data from, which are spread all across the LA County. A web-based data collection system was undoubtedly the most preferred solution for the Family Preservation Program. Each site enters the data, the data is sent to a server at USC to be accumulated into one database so as to enable analysis and study. The web-based data collection system ensures restricted access, maintaining confidentiality. Today, the Family Preservation Program Data Collection System is up and running and users have found this system to be user friendly.
